Under the Hood
A gentle, indirect technique using the clitoral hood as a protective buffer for high sensitivity.
Under the Hood is an indirect manual technique that utilizes the clitoral hood as a protective barrier, transforming direct friction into a muffled, rolling pressure suitable for high sensitivity.
How to perform Under the Hood
Instead of making direct contact with the clitoral glans, focus your movements on the clitoral hood (the fold of skin covering the clitoris). Use one or two fingers to rub, circle, or tap the skin of the hood. The hood acts as a soft barrier, allowing the nerves underneath to be stimulated by the movement of the skin rather than the friction of a finger. You can also pull the hood slightly upward or side-to-side to vary how the internal tissue is massaged.
To vary the sensation, try using a “pulsing” motion where you gently press the hood down against the glans and release rhythmically. This adds a component of vertical pressure to the lateral friction, engaging the nerves from a different angle without increasing direct skin-on-skin intensity.
Why this technique feels different
For many, the clitoris is so densely packed with nerve endings that direct touch can feel overwhelming, ticklish, or even sharp. Using the hood as a buffer “muffles” the intensity of the friction, converting it into a soft, rolling pressure. This allows for a more gradual and comfortable buildup of arousal, making it an ideal approach for those with high sensitivity or during the hypersensitive period immediately following an orgasm.
